What the Heck am I?

Anybody recognize me? I'm a mystery miniature from Mike's youth (as you can tell by my hideous paint job). I have scratched on my base "© 82" and the initial "P" but no other identifying marks. Heck, I don't even look like anything in the Monster Manual. Can someone identify my maker and what the hell I'm supposed to be. I don't seem to be on DnD Lead and that place has everything.

The 'P' could be a Ral Partha indicator.

The combination of the pose and base give me an underwater 'fish man' vibe.

I would try researching Ral Partha 1982 miniatures on various sites, and look for any kind of aquatic themes...

I think it was supposed to be a Sahuagain (sic?).

I did google image search on the Lost Minis Wiki (http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) for "demon", "devil" and "fiend". No match.

I've always assumed it something along the lines of a sahuagin or a deep one or Gollum, myself. I even thought that the blindheim might be a candidate for awhile, but that's sort of stretching.

I'm not certain that the "P" is a Ral Partha indicator; I've usually seen the full RP when used on the base, but other P mini makers have turned up nothing so far.

Looks like a kuo-toa to me.

Kuo-Toa or Sahuagin...

A possible course might be to see if any old catalogs have been scanned from 1982 for Partha or other suppliers.

It might be meant to be one of the above, but under a modified name.

rpg.stackexchange.com might be a good place to get an answer to a question like this.

A Bat God whose wings are serenely folded away while servants groom you.

SOLVED!

The 'P' is for Pinnacle, a brand name used by Grenadier.

The figure is a Green Gaunt, from the set #2203 Fantasy Monsters.

Scroll down on this page to see the set:

Nice work, Scottsz.

The Green Gaunt is almost cheery compared to the rest of that set.

Pretty scary lot, that.

A very good job of detective work indeed, scottz! A "Green Gaunt," huh? No wonder it doesn't quite match anything from the monster books. It's an original sculpt by Pinnacle. It looks like I've got a re-paint job and some stats creating to do in 2012.

Thanks!

Holy crap! The dragon in that set is one I've been trying to track down for years!

Just a tip about searches like this one... I used different descriptive text in Google's image search (searching for 'sea devil', 'aquatic monster', etc.) and stumbled onto a pic from an eBay lot that tipped off the Green Gaunt name.

Whenever researching a miniature, try to use the text that would hypothetically be used to describe the miniature in a catalog or eBay sale.

This whole set needs stats. Red Horned Mane? Barracuman? The cheery sic legged nightmare?
They don't make minis like that anymore.

@rorshachhamster: There's definitely something special about those oldies... a pure and uncut pulp/gonzo flavor.

I'd love to bring back that essence back... still a ton more research to do, but in 2012 I'm hoping to make some greens for Hereticwerks designs and would love to persuade some Old School artists to let me make greens of some weird fantasy beasts.

The price point of 25/28mm has gotten really high (price of metal, etc.) but I'd love to take a crack at some of the logistics issues in miniature making.

I looked at it and thought, "It' looks like something from He-Man." Then I look at Scottsz link and find that pinnacle did He-Man. The Green gaunt shall be Mer-Man's little brother, Schecky.
